Holding Trump to Account...with Data!
Holding the Trump Administration Accountable
Keeping our Finger on the Pulse of the Independent American
Lura Forcum, January 16.

Great Expectations (or Not)
Ready or not, we’re less than a week from inaugurating the 47th President. Regardless of how you feel about President-elect Trump, the Independent Center is here to amplify the voices of American independents.
Since we independents value effective governance, we’re asking: What does effectiveness look like to you?
A Data-Driven Approach
We’re back in the field polling independents, plus Republicans and Democrats, to dive deep on the policies and promises independents expect from the incoming GOP-controlled Congress and White House.
It’s our job to hold the new administration to account on behalf of independents.
Previous research at the Independent Center shows that Independent voters consistently rated key economic issues like affordability, inflation, taxes, and the economy as the most important factors in determining their vote
This new research will highlight key areas of agreement—prime opportunities for negotiation and compromise (which is why we include Republicans and Democrats in our research). Independents expect bipartisan solutions and politicians who reach across the aisle to enact them. By capturing diverse perspectives, we aim to shape a broader, more inclusive policy conversation.
Tracking Public Sentiment
Public opinion evolves, and we’ll update our polling throughout the Trump administration to ensure the independent voice is heard and promises made to independent voters are not forgotten. Because independents tend to have more balanced views on social and economic issues, we’re going beyond simple approval ratings to capture both quantitative and qualitative insights.
Holding Government Accountable
In October, Independent Center polling found that 66 percent (two-thirds!!) of respondents felt unheard by Washington—a troubling statistic for a representative democracy.
Too often, we are sidelined between election cycles.
By consistently engaging voters on expectations, we’ll provide unique insights to you and ensure our leaders, journalists, and influencers understand what independents expect from the new Trump administration and the government.
How You Can Help
Our growing community of independents are committed to advocating for policies that make a difference for all of us. And you can help.

The Independent Center is the go-to organization for information, research, and engagement with independent voters, who now make up the majority of the electorate.
We represent those who are fed up with partisan politics and feel politically homeless. We believe the future is not red or blue; it’s fiscally responsible, socially inclusive, and free to choose the best options for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
