 Hi friends,

This week, the members of the Independent Center team had the opportunity to visit our nation’s capital to educate key Congressional offices on the importance of independents and what issues truly matter to you and me.

Meeting with both Republicans and Democrats, we emphasized the need for bipartisan cooperation, responsible legislation, and a problem-solving mindset.

The surprising thing that we learned? Nearly every member of Congress agrees with this. You would never know that from reading the news or X. So what gives?

Well, it turns out that there’s lots of bipartisan work that’s happening in Congress. Unfortunately, the news cycle focuses on division and partisan bickering.

Bipartisanship isn’t celebrated in any meaningful way. This is mainly because legacy media and social media are driven by clicks and views. And outrage gets a lot of clicks and views, which means big profits.

Political entertainment has replaced genuine reporting, like the meme says:

This is why the Independent Center was created: to bridge the gap between political independents and elected officials who are independent or independent-minded. We're using our channels to celebrate members of Congress who  are willing to bridge the partisan gap to pass commonsense legislation. and educate those that uphold gridlock in favor of their partisan affiliation.

The needs and desires of political independents need to be represented by our legislators.  We're no longer the exhausted majority—we're the energized independents and we're a growing share of the electorate.

That's the message we shared on the Hill this week: You can't win without independents, and independents want bipartisanship and elected officials who put citizens and country above party.

Best,

Lura

The Independent Center is the go-to organization for information, research, and engagement with independent voters, who now make up the majority of the electorate.

We represent those who are fed up with partisan politics and feel politically homeless. We believe the future is not red or blue; it’s fiscally responsible, socially inclusive, and free to choose the best options for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
