We're Gaining Ground, But We Need Your Help!

We're Gaining Ground, But We Need Your Help!
Lura Forcum, May 15.

Hi friends,
If you haven’t already, we really hope that you’ll take the time to read our exclusive story that was featured in the Washington Post this past weekend (you can access it here).
Getting Washington to listen to the concerns of everyday people like you and me isn’t easy, but we’re gaining momentum.
Since our organization was featured in the media, we’ve had hundreds of people join our movement and leave us messages of support.
And what does all of this mean? It means that we’re not alone.
Look at this comment that was left on the Washington Post’s website:
“Neither major party is doing the nation's business these days. neither one has produced a candidate I could vote for as president for many, many years. We should definitely do SOMETHING different because it is clear we can't depend on our current major parties to do anything except continue to rig the rules to maintain their stranglehold on our national politics.”
But the support doesn’t stop there. One reader commented, “It's about time. What took them so long?”
Since the weekend, the article has been republished in:
MSN
Seattle Times
London Times
CNBS News
Canadian Times
We’ve also been invited on over a dozen podcasts, from both the left and the right, to talk about how independents are changing the rules of the game.
All of this energy is great, but we need your help. The Independent Center is different than other political organizations primarily because we’re not DC insiders or former politicians.
We’re a groundswell of dissatisfaction that’s ready to push for change. Head to the link here for more ways that you can get involved.
As another reader noted on our article, “I understand the barriers to third party candidates, but this is so, so overdue! But I think a grassroots movement would be more successful... Our current system just doesn't work for us.”
Our nation’s future is too important for everyone’s voice to not be heard. And that’s why we’re here. Political change can only happen if it has the backing of the general public.
That’s the true power of a grassroots movement.
Best,
Lura

Every week, our proprietary AI model analyzes public discussions on public forums to understand the dynamics of digital grassroots conversations.
Trending issues this week:
1. Democratic CandidatesThere’s growing debate about who should lead the Democratic Party in the 2028 election, with names like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Kamala Harris being mentioned. But the real discussion is about bigger issues: whether the party should lean more progressive or stay moderate, how to appeal to both city and rural voters, and whether it's time for a younger generation to take charge. People seem split—some are excited about bold new voices, while others worry about picking someone who can actually win in a divided country.
2. Income Tax & Class PoliticsDonald Trump’s surprising support for a tax on millionaires is stirring things up, especially since it goes against traditional Republican ideas. It’s also reigniting frustration over how both parties deal with issues like corporate power and income inequality. Many are asking whether either party truly stands up for the middle class, or if talk about helping regular people is just a cover for protecting the wealthy.
3. Climate PolicyThe shutdown of oil refineries in California—and the possible rise in gas prices that could follow—sparked debate about how climate policies affect everyday life. People discussed whether switching to electric cars is realistic given the high costs and lack of charging stations in some areas. This touches on a larger question: how do we balance environmental goals with economic realities, and how much political will is there to stick with long-term plans that might cause short-term pain?
